Does Spirit Dental have a waiting period?

Spirit Dental plans have no waiting periods for covered preventive, basic and major dental services. Coverage begins on the effective date of your policy, which can be as early as the next day after enrollment.

What is the Spirit Dental deductible?

Spirit Dental plans include a $100 lifetime deductible. Unlike most dental insurance plans that reset your deductible every year, Spirit Dental's deductible is met once and does not need to be satisfied again as long as you remain on the plan.

What is Spirit Dental's annual maximum?

Spirit Dental plans offer annual maximums ranging from $1,500 to $5,000 depending on the plan you choose. The Pinnacle PPO 5000 provides the highest annual maximum of $5,000, which increases over the first three years of coverage.

Can I use Spirit Dental with my current dentist?

Spirit Dental is a PPO plan, which means you can see any licensed dentist. If your dentist is part of the Ameritas Dental Network, you receive 25–50% reduced rates on covered services. If your dentist is out of network, your plan still provides coverage at standard reimbursement rates.

When can I start using my Spirit Dental insurance plan?

Spirit Dental individual dental insurance plans offer every day effective dates, so you can choose a start date that fits your needs and begin coverage as early as the next day after enrollment. Your enrollment may take 2-3 business days before it becomes accessible in the Ameritas system. To verify benefits before your first appointment, call Ameritas customer service at (800) 487-5553.

Is there any age limit for dental insurance?

You must be 18 years of age to be the dental plan primary policy holder. Your spouse/domestic partner and unmarried children up to age 26 are also eligible. There is no upper age limit for our dental policies.

When will I get my Spirit Dental plan ID card?

Spirit Dental plan documents are delivered electronically via email shortly after enrollment, with instructions to access and download your policy through the Ameritas member portal. If you selected direct mail delivery, allow up to 10 business days for your Spirit Dental ID card to arrive.

Can Spirit Dental's enrollment fee be waived?

No, the $25 enrollment fee cannot be waived. Spirit Dental charges this one-time fee on every new policy, whether you enroll online or by phone. The fee is non-refundable once your policy is active.
